I know I'll be waiting for the M4 version with cheek riser and Limbsaver!
Offline
The assembled armatures with grip sleeves, assembled standard buttpads and cheek risers came in late this afternoon (all black). We'll be shipping them out on Monday and probably Tuesday. This will be all:
o Benelli M4;
o Black;
o Standard buttpad.
Most of you have ordered Limbsaver pads and so will have to wait a bit longer.
The cheek risers are pretty damned tight on the armatures; I hope that's okay . . .

Just placed my order! Pretty stoked. Thanks Mitch! ![]()

90030 Urbino Tactical Stock for Ben M4 (Standard Butt, 12-GA, Black) $115.00
This is what I ordered so.... :snoopy: ...

Will we be notified via email when the stock ships?

Since we aren't really set up like a big distribution shop with all that cool fulfillment stuff, we don't have a mechanism for notifying folks when their stuff ships, or automatically sending out tracking numbers.
If you ordered a 90030, it should ship on Monday or Tuesday and you should get it by the following weekend.

Ackshully, the version we shipped this week was the 90040, the Benelli M4 standard buttpad with cheek riser. Sorry Babob. There was a miss-communication on our part with the plastics guys and they only delivered buttpad assemblies with "wings" for the cheek risers.
This is Lucy modeling the Benelli M4 with the new Urbino Tactical stock. Be nice to Lucy, she processes all your orders and is also a moderator of this forum:

Close-ups of the stock (sorry about that black leather jacket in the background; it's cold here in SoCal, must be getting down to 50 degrees!):

(QD sling swivel shown in the photos not included with stock kit; you can pick these up at any gun store)
We'll probably ship some 90030s before the end of the week. Again, most of you guys ordered the Limbsavers anyway, so we haven't shipped many units yet. The Limbsaver people tell me they will probably ship the buttpad assemblies on Friday, so next week is looking good for the Limbsaver versions.
The stock assembly is tight and feels good. The cheek riser is tight, too. We thought it might be too tight, especially at its lowest setting (at left in the photos above), but it goes on pretty easily and comes off simply by pulling it back with a screwdriver or other small cylindrical object held in both hands. In higher settings it comes off just fine with your bare hands, though you still have to use some effort. That's much better than our biggest fear, that it would be too loose!
It's a nice piece. We are pretty happy with it!

Ordered 91460 thru New Frontier Armory back on 11/19 because they listed them as in stock. Duh.
Hope the production issues work out soon, looks promising.
I understand the stock is 12 1/2" but how much shorter is that than OEM?

Does the limbsaver add any more length than the regular butt pad?

Good to know. Thanks!

About two inches.
Factory stock is crazy long.
Thanks.
Yeah, I know what you mean, I've been saying 2" is crazy long for years. ![]()

Mitch...we got a glitch! ![]()
During the install I found that the trigger group would not go back into the receiver. It was obvious that the rear tab on trigger housing was bigger than the slot that is on the Mesa stock. I removed the stock and made some measurements. See pics below.

Yeah, it's pretty tight. You can install it easily by first installing the trigger group, then installing the stock.
It should be an easy fix in the mold, I'm guessing. It's only a problem now if you are installing the trigger group while the stock is in place (say, during a field strip). The factory stock is designed to be removed and installed with the trigger group in place and we'll need to fix the mold at some point to allow that.

Mmmm, I don't think the stock unscrews without the trigger group removed from the receiver. The trigger group acts as a method to keep the stock from unscrewing inadvertently.

That worked great Mitch! I just put in the trigger group first, then installed the stock. I'm always a little nervous about screws so I added a couple of drops of blue loctite to the stock screw. It fit and feels great. Can't wait to try it out at the range.

So what you're saying is that field stripping is impossible with the Urbino stock because the trigger group will be held in there so tightly that you won't be able to get it out? WTH Mitch?

My M4 doesn't allow for removal of the stock without the trigger group removed. The trigger group keeps the stock from unscrewing.

Yeah, thinking of canceling my order until this gets fixed. Pretty silly not understanding how the weapon is designed/supposed to be field stripped.

Hmmm. This development is disturbing. Hope there is a cure.

Hold up there fellas! As Mitch stated, the tolerances are "tight". On the initial install, I could not get the trigger group to align with the pin. It would insert fine but was a good 1/4" from the pin. After following Mitch's instructions...I installed the trigger group first and then the stock and that worked fine.
Of course I read the concerns about not being able to field strip due to this issue, so naturally I had to see if it was possible after the gun was put back together. I was able to remove the trigger group just fine. On the re-install I noticed that it did not align just perfect but a little pressure on trigger guard pushing the group to the rear, aligned the holes just fine.
The stock must have given shape to the rear tab on the trigger housing once you have it installed from Mitchs' instructions. I believe that when you tighten the stock screw inside the stock during the install, it forces the stock to mold a little around the rear tab on the trigger housing.
So, can you still field strip it...YES.
Is it going to be a little tight...YES.

Sounds like it's fine to me. Feel free to cancel everyone elses order ... Just means I'll get my Urbino that much sooner. ![]()

The Urbino Tactical stock installs from the rear, like a traditional stock. There's a bolt and a washer.
With the factory stock, the bolt or stud is glued to a nut so that the stock unscrews. With the factory stock, you can remove the stock without tools. With the Urbino Tactical stock, you need a screwdriver, as with any other stock.
Someday if, say, the military asked for it, we might mold a pocket in the rear mount boss to accept a nut that we can glue to a bolt or stud so the Urbino Tactical stock can be installed and removed in the same manner, but at this point it's not even on our radar.
Optimally, I agree there should be more space in the stock to accept the tongue of the trigger group, and we will speak to our mold guys about that, but as Babob suggests, it shouldn't be a dealbreaker for most folks.
