We are making it for the Benelli M4 first, which is an odd choice because that platform has such a small market share, but we are answering the specific requests of a large LE agency.  Once the Benelli M4 stock is produce, we will go into production on Benelli M1/M2 and Remington 870/1100 versions.

Hey Mitch... how you doing?

That last sentence... "Once the Benelli M4 stock is produce, we will go into production on Benelli M1/M2"... that perked me right up. A 12.5" with better ergos than the factory PG stock would be a welcome addition to my M2T.

Re: M4 tactical stock

Mitch,

I can guarantee that you will have more than quite a few interested customers in this stock simply because it will help with 922(r) compliance. As far as I know there are only three U.S. made parts (mag tubes, forends and followers) that you can swap out to help with compliance, being that there are 13 imported parts. So adding this shorter fixed pistol grip stock will be a major addition. Seeing that most people would love a short LOP and something that will fit under 922(r) compliance, this would for sure be an instant hit among M4 owners. I know for sure I would rather change out the stock than add a forend with fifty million picatinny rails I'll never use.

All you have to do to verify this is to look at the benelli forums. There are tons of posts there from people looking for ANYTHING that would help with the imported parts issue. And this stock would help, aside from that fact that its an awesome idea to produce a shorten fixed pistol grip with some added bells and whistles.

Mitch,

And please, please, please stamp it "Made in USA."

You can add a $25 to the price just for that. smile

Re: M4 tactical stock

You guys have been very encouraging.  I know it doesn't look like much, but due to the production process and the design, this has been the most ambitious project we have ever undertaken.

Once we start producing these for the Remington 870, we will be going head to head with Speedfeed and Choate and other stocks that will cost half what ours will.  But as we have already proven to ourselves and to the market that professionals will pay more for a professional grade product, we hope to make the same point in the field of polymer stocks.

Thanks for the reminder regarding "Made in USA."

Re: M4 tactical stock

Mitch,

I posted a link to this thread on the Benelli forum, and to say the least, people were very excited that you guys are working on the Urbino.  They are very excited to get one more 922(r) compliant U.S. made part. They know you make quality products, and to be honest, I am sure most wouldn't have a problem paying for quality. In reality, what you quoted for prices were extremely reasonable. Heck, I've seen the Benelli pistol grip stocks go for $200 and the collapsable stocks go for close to $800.

In other words, if you make it, they will come.

Re: M4 tactical stock

Mitch, one more thing and I promise to stop bothering you. If you could make the grip as close to the stock grip as possible, that would be awesome. No hollow hole on the bottom please.

Also interms of cost. Most M4 owners purchase $200+ forends, $200 titanium magazine tubes partially for U.S. made compliance for 922(r) and partially because after dropping $1700+ on the M4 the last thing you'd want to do is put on sub par parts. Like I said before, everyone knows you guys make quality parts and is looking forward to the Urbino (which I just figured out is the town Benelli in Italy is located). So go all out on the Urbino, you'll have buyers willing to pay for a quality product.

Re: M4 tactical stock

We are basically copying the Benelli grip.  The texture might be a little different, to make it "ours."

Between the rubber grip and the Limbsaver buttpad, this will be the most comfortable tactical shotgun stock on the market.

Re: M4 tactical stock

We just got the first prototype back.  Here it is:

204.jpg

202.jpg

We will be taking it to CopsWest next week to show to a few select people (it won't be displayed in the booth) and also to shoot at the off-site range day.  After that we hand it over to our LEO customer for testing.

Assuming the LEOs like it, there are only a few tweaks required after this.  Note the shorter LoP, integrated Limbsaver pad, integrated push-button sling swivels (might have to be an option of the cops bang their noses on them), and Benelli-style rubber grip.  The sling plate accepts 1-1/4" inch webbing, the US military standard.

The features you see at the rear are the latch mechanism for the buttplate; it is field removable without tools, which will become more important with our cheek riser version.

Re: M4 tactical stock

We are at CopsWest this week.

There is a booth across from ours with a Benelli M4 with a factory stock.  I kept staring at it as the stock seemed impossibly long (we shortened ours long ago).

Several attendees carried our M4 across to the other booth so they could compare the stocks side by side.

Re: M4 tactical stock

Mitch,
Have you considered putting a storage compartment in the rear of the stock? I know in the factory stock, there is quite a bit of room in the tail section. Same story for the pistol grip itself. Since the rubber sleeve simply pulls off, there is a nice place for storage there. Be it spare parts, a small oil bottle, cleaning kit or batteries.

Also, do you have any plans to have them molded in any other color than black?

Any intention to offer a stock mounted shell carrier that is hard mounted rather than an elastic nylon type?

That has been a consideration from day one, but we probably won't see it in early models.

We can mold them in any color we want.  It will depend on market demand.  I expect there to be some demand at the beginning for the sand color to match Benelli's camouflage M4s.

Ironically, considering shell carriers are our main business, the standard stock won't have any provision for mounting them.  However, a later version of the cheek riser will probably accept shell carriers as an option.

Re: M4 tactical stock

We are awaiting the arrival of a mounting bolt before we can send it out (naturally it's a weird thread no one has in stock; we re-tapped our own shotgun for our in-house fitting).

The stock was examined by a number of interested LEOs at the CopsWest show and everyone loved it.  There were even live fire tests during a range day.  Only problem found was some cops ride up far on the stock when they shoulder the weapon and the push-button sling swivel caught them on the nose.  So we will have to make that an option.

First look at the cheek riser design:

Still waiting on that oddball fastener before we can get the prototype stock into LEO hands.

Re: M4 tactical stock

I was thinking of the problem of having the sling attachment points so high on the stock.  Maybe you could move the attachment point to the top of the grip(area behind the trigger guard) and make it flush.

Re: M4 tactical stock

I think it would be a very good idea to have that third sling point as an option or just remove it all together. It seems like its in a weird spot anyways and would definitely get in the way. Three sling point attachments is sort of over kill anyways.

Also, any forecast of when you think these stocks will be available?

Re: M4 tactical stock

The push-button sling swivel cups are located more or less where we put them on our LEO telescoping stock adapters.  That's where we got the idea.  But we intend to make them optional.

We hope to see these appear in February or March.

Re: M4 tactical stock

Can't wait....it's been a long time coming and my poor M4 doesn't get the use it deserves with the current stock configuration.   Please let me know if you end up putting together an email list of folks to notify once this becomes available.  I will be a buyer as soon as the one with the adjustable cheek piece becomes available.  Happy to put down a deposit also if it helps.

Re: M4 tactical stock

Hi,
I heard about this on the Benelli Forum - I need a replacement stock and any other "made in USA" stamped/embossed parts for the M4 for 922r compliance so I can customize this critter.
I'll keep checking back to see when product becomes available - THANKS!

Re: M4 tactical stock

Okay.  We finally got the stock into the hands of the LE testers today.  They said they would get back to us at the end of January!  We said we can't wait that long, so they will try to hurry things up.

We want to hear from them before pull the trigger on the second prototype, the one with the cheek riser.  Aside from responding to field feedback, the designs are finished, pretty much.
